Music In Deerfield's
23rd Season Announced

DEERFIELD---Mohawk Trail Concerts is pleased to announce another
six-concert program of chamber music artists for the 23rd Music In
Deerfield concert season.  Opening the season at the Brick Church in
Deerfield on November 2 is the exciting St. Lawrence String Quartet.  One
of North America's finest youthful quartets, the St Lawrence was founded in
Canada in 1989 and has already toured worldwide.  They will perform
quartets of Mozart, Berger and Tchaikovsky.
The following month, on December 7, The Boston Camerata with Music
Director, JoelCohn, will perform " An American Christmas" at the Brick
Church in Deerfield.  An intelligently conceived, stunningly executed
program in the American vernacular style, the music is about important
things- life and death, faith and doubt, struggle and regeneration. A
favorite with audiences everywhere this concert exemplifies what is best in
our own musical heritage.
With the New Year, Charles Wadsworth, founder of the Chamber Music Society
of Lincoln Center will host The Brentano String Quartet, winner of the
Naumberg Award, and locally beloved pianist, Ignat Solzhenitsyn at the
Hills Chapel at Smith College in Northampton. The concert will take place
on February 1. Works by Haydn, Scriabin, and Schumann will be played.
Also at Hills Chapel on March 22nd another Naumburg winner will perform.
The Eroica Trio will play a program of masterworks for piano, violin and
cello including Beethoven, Piazzola and Schubert.  In their ten years
together, the Eroica have become one of the most in-demand ensembles in
chamber music, and have compiled an impressive-and still
growing-discography for EMI Classics.
Back at the Brick Church on April 5 , Music In Deerfield welcomes back
London Baroque, foremost exponents of the chamber treasures of the Baroque.
Their program called "The High Baroque" will include virtuoso selections
from Bach, Handel, Leclair and Vivaldi.
Finally, the season will conclude on April 19th, when the incomparable
Orion String Quartet  will perform at Hills Chapel in Northampton. They
will continue their six season exploration of the works of Beethoven with
three selections from his string quartet repertoire.
This 23rd series arranged by Music In Deerfield Artistic Director, John
Montanari, is certain to live up to its billing as "World-class music right
here at home."
