 Exuberant…Exquisite…Exceptional…!!

These are some of the words that describe the extraordinary experience of hearing a live orchestra.  Welcome to the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra’s Family Halloween Concert. This lively 1-hour program will combine superb selections of the greatest orchestral repertoire with humor, dialogue, puppetry, and dance that links sounds with descriptive words.

The SDSO is pleased to share the stage with Matthew Romain of Hands On Puppet Theatre, and the Dakota Academy of Performing Arts Dance Ensemble, directed by Michele Running. .

Program highlights include Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens, Selections from E.T. by John Williams, Leroy Anderson’s The Typewriter, and “Hoedown” from Copland’s Rodeo.

Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes. The program will be followed by a “musical instrument petting zoo” in the lobby of the Washington Pavilion, where audience members are welcome to try out all the orchestral instruments.

We hope you and your family are able to join us for this exciting, new event.  Call the South Dakota Symphony Office at 335-7933 with questions.
