Trio Orion

This very original group made up of Guy Bardot - flute, Cathy Tardieu - Crystal and Hervé Remond - Bass is formed around a very original instrument: the Crystal Baschet, an accoustic keyboard made of glass rods. The Crysal Baschet was created in 1952 by the Baschet brothers. It is made up of 56 glass rods which comprise four and a half octaves. As everyone knows, when a moist finger rubs against the rim of a crystal glass, a sound is produced. The Crystal Baschet uses this same principle but the glass is replaced by crystal rods and the sound is magnified by metal or fiber glass cones. In addition, nothing comes between the fingers and the vibrations produced by the rods which allows the musician a wide range of artistic expression. These three musicians, all of graduates of the National Conservatories of Music of Toulouse, Orleans and Lyon, invite you to share a universe of the different tones and colours of music especially created for crystal. Their concerts are a discovery of new sounds where the physical beauty of the instrument has a special place.
