Ensemble Baroque Arcane

The Ensemble Baroque Arcane is composed of professional musicians who are specialized in the baroque technic and interpretation of their respective instruments especially within the framework of the Department of Early Music of the National Conservatory of Music of Toulouse . There they have been able to benefit from the mastery of such internationally known musicians such as Willem Jansen, Philippe Allain-Dupré, Enrico Gatti and François Fernandez, Eugène Ferré and Rolf Lislevand, and Philippe Pierlot.

Since its creation in September 1993, the ensemble has performed to great public and critical acclaim. They perform primarily in the Midi Pyrenees and Aquitaine Regions of France, but more and more they are being called to perform further afield, such as for the festival in Aude Romane, Gap, Harpsichord May in Chartes, and others.

Specializing in French chamber music from the beginning of the 18th century, the group’s repetoire also includes German music (JS Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, Leopold Weiss and others). The group is also an ideal accompaniment for singers including an extensive repetoire of French song including such composers as Nicolas Clérambault ; Joseph Bodin de Boismortier, Michel Pignolet de Montéclair, and Jean-Philippe Rameau. The Ensemble has performed with Hubert Humeau in 1994 and soprano Isabelle Poulenard in 1997 and is at the moment working with soprano Isabelle Desrochers.

The ensemble’s musicians are all members of the Orchestre Baroque of Montauban under the direction of Jean-Marc Andrieu and they also participate individually in other musical groups such as le Concert Spirituel, les Musiciens du Louvre, Orchestre National de Chambre de Toulouse and others .
